About Mee Ling Ng OBE

Mee Ling is a stalwart of the Labour Party, having served as an active member and elected councillor for 16 years in Lewisham, London. During this period, she also served as Lewisham Council's Deputy Leader and chaired various committees and Regeneration Partnership Boards. Mee Ling is passionate about social justice, diversity and equality and quality public services.

In her professional life, Mee Ling has extensive experience in governance. She's served as NED in two NHS mental health trusts and NED in Her Majesty's Court Services Board. She also spent eight years as Chair of the Board of Southwark Primary Care NHS Trust. She has held Governance Board roles at Goldsmith’s College, Habinteg Housing Association, Transport for London, London South Bank University and Lambeth College. She was appointed Ambassador in Diversity in Public Appointments, an initiative of the Cabinet Office.

 

Mee Ling worked as an Environmental Scientist after graduating with B.Sc in Biochemistry and M.Sc in Environmental Science, economic regeneration and vocational training, disability and employment fields in private and voluntary sectors. She has co-authored three books on disability and employment. She received an OBE in 2007 for services to the Chinese community in UK.
