East & South East Asians
for Labour

We exist to increase representation, visibility and participation amongst ESEA communities in political and wider civic life.

We do this by educating and positively influencing the Labour Party and wider public on issues affecting East and South East Asian communities.

Proudest moments

May 2022

We were proud to endorse multiple candidates of East and South East Asian descent in the May 2022 elections. We are pleased to share the election of councillors Lotis Bautista (King’s Cross – Camden), Edison Huynh (Lewisham Central – Lewisham), Bora Kwon (College Park and Old Oak – Hammersmith & Fulham) and Hau-Yu Tam (Evelyn – Lewisham), many of whom were elected for the first time.

The election of these candidates demonstrates the growing influence of the East and South East Asian community. We look forward to many more ESEA candidates being selected and elected at local and national levels in the coming months and years.

We also held our first Recognition, Settlement and Solidarity event in Parliament to welcome newly-arrived Hong Kongers. We are particularly grateful to Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper MP, Shadow Minister for Immigration; Stephen Kinnock MP and Shadow Minister for Asia and the Pacific, Catherine West MP, for speaking at the event and addressing this important national issue.
